ORPINGTON
Developed by William Cook and named after his hometown, Orpington, the Buff Orpingtons were bred to be a large, more productive chicken to encourage people to raise chickens again. Orpingtons are the breed of choice when it comes to backyard chickens in the United States. They often like to be cuddled and seek out human attention. They are considered the Miss Congeniality of the chicken world. They are tolerant of human children and good mothers to chicks.
